Sanjaya Malakar has gained a lot of public attention and national interest, owing to his unique character. Sanjaya was badly received by the American Idol Season 6 judges, yet was able to advance to the 7th place in the singing competition.
Sanjaya Shekar Malakar, also known as Sanjaya Joseph Malakar, was born on September 10, 1989 in the Seattle metropolitan area. Born to a Bengali Indian father, Vasudeva Malakar and an Italian American mother, Jillian Recchi Blyth, Sanjaya’s inclination to music runs in their blood.
Sanjaya Malakar auditioned for the American Idol Season 6 at the Seattle Center and sang Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” for his one-minute a capella.
